12 Weeks

Pin It Now!

How Far Along: 12 weeks 1 day

Size of Baby: Peach (3 in. long)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: -1 lbs.  I should mention that I am not planning on weighing myself at home.  I am only planning on going by the scale at my obstetrician's office.  This weight is current as of January 11th.  I will update every four weeks or so.

Maternity Clothes: I still haven't really needed to make the transition yet.  My pants are a little uncomfortable right out of the dryer, but an hour later have stretched enough that they're too big (irritating!).  I have a renewed love for my sweatpants, which I wear if I'm hanging out at home.

Gender: It's a...... baby!

Movement: Nothing yet.  I've heard that after your first baby you can feel movement sooner.  How much sooner?  I felt Gene moving at 18 weeks.  Every now and then I feel a little flutter, but it's higher than my uterus is, so it's likely just gas.

Sleep: I am loving my afternoon naps.  It often means bringing Gene into our bed to make sure he sleeps at the same time.  If I leave him in his crib he doesn't sleep, which means I don't sleep.  I'm not ready to get out of bed most mornings, regardless of what time I went to bed.

What I Miss: Sleeping all night.  I get up at least once or twice to use the bathroom.  If my toddler can sleep all night, I should get to as well!

Cravings: I'm not craving any specific foods.  My problem is that most foods don't sound very good.  It's not a food aversion, I'm just not hungry for most foods.  As a result, I've been eating a lot of cereal.

Symptoms: Other than needing to take an afternoon nap, I feel really good.

Best Moment This Week: My little bump is getting bigger each and every day!

Flashback: 12 weeks pregnant with Gene!
Here I am 12 weeks pregnant with Gene and this time.  It will be fun to compare my bump photos to the ones I have from when I was expecting the first time.  I've heard you start showing a lot sooner with subsequent pregnancies, so it'll be interesting to see if that holds true.

  1. I felt it at 14 weeks (or 14.5?) the second time! I didn't really feel it the first time until 19 or 20 weeks. I was shocked at how early I felt it this time!

  2. Oh and I am showing now at 20 weeks and didn't show last time until 26 weeks? It felt like forever...So I think that one is also true! :-)

  3. Look at you how cute!!! Glad you are feeling well. With all 3 of my pregnancies, I slept the entire first trimester. I was just so tired.

  4. LOVE this comparison. I didn't take photos at any specific time. Just whenever I felt like it :-)
Hope to see you at the next Mommy's Night Out. Miss ya!
