Gene's Big Birthday Bash

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we had a small party at our home for Gene's birthday.  The following weekend we had another party back in Missouri where we celebrated with family and friends. 

Many people hadn't seen Gene since April, some since last December, so it was really nice for everyone to see how much he's grown.  Unfortunately he didn't take a good nap before the party, so he was pretty quiet and didn't want everyone to love on him.

We decided to serve lunch at this party and had hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos and potato salad.  Oh, and cupcakes.  Lots and lots of cupcakes.

After everyone ate we let Gene have his cupcake.  Since he'd eaten a cupcake the week before, he knew what to do.  He slowly but surely made a huge mess.  It was in his ears, his hair, his nose...

I tried to get him to open some of his gifts but he was happy just to play with the tissue paper or hold his new toys.  He got a lot of clothes and books, which is great considering the outrageous number of toys he already has. :)

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and celebrated with us!  Also, a big thanks to everyone who helped me get things ready for the party and clean up afterward!  And last, but certainly not least, thank you to my cousin Zach who took photos for us, even though my DSLR makes him nervous. :)
