You are 12 months old!  That's an entire year!  I am shocked that one year has gone by so quickly.  It seriously feels like it wasn't that long ago that we were bringing you home, yet it's hard to imagine that you haven't always been part of our lives.

You have been a busy boy over the last month!  You went to your first pumpkin patch, had your first birthday parties, and took your first real steps!

That's right, you're walking now!  You've been taking a couple of steps here and there for the last six weeks or so, but two weeks ago you just started walking around the house.  Seeing you walk is the cutest thing ever.  Sometimes you still wobble and fall, but you're getting better.  Soon you'll be running through the house.

You love to eat!  There are very few foods that you do not care for.  Your favorite meal is grilled chicken and steamed veggies.  I love that you'll eat almost anything you're offered.  You eat mostly non-pureed foods now.  We do still offer pureed fruits, which you love.  You had your first cupcake this month and your birthday parties.  You ate as much as possible before we took it away.

We also switched you over to whole milk in a sippy cup.  No more bottles!  No more formula!  I mixed formula in the milk for less than a day and now you're happy to drink up your milk.  

You currently have eight teeth -- four on top and four on the bottom.  You were drooling a lot over the weekend, so I think you're working on your fangs.  Fortunately you're still your chipper self.

You had your 12 month checkup at the doctor on Monday.  You are 28.5" tall and weigh 22lbs 13oz!  You had just eaten a big breakfast, but still.  You've gained 15lbs this year!  You were nice enough to walk around for Dr. H.  She gave us a cream for the nasty rash we've been battling.  We've finally decided it's yeast, so hopefully we get it cleared up soon.

You have been sleeping really well at night!  At the beginning of the month you wanted to be up in the middle of the night, but for the last week or so you've slept all night.  We really appreciate this. :)

Oh, BIG NEWS!  You've taken your last three naps IN YOUR CRIB!  Aside from your birth, this may be one of the happiest days of my life!  You haven't taken regular naps in your crib since last December!  I am praying that it continues to go well.

You had two birthday parties this month.  We had a small one here in Illinois and a big one back in Missouri.  Everyone loves you so much and were so happy to celebrate with you!  You were given so many books!  You have plenty of toys, so it was nice to open books and puzzles at your party. :)

Gene, you are loved beyond measure and are such a blessing to our lives.  Happy birthday.
