I went PRN* at work at the end of July. Between that time and when Gene was born in October, my house stayed pretty clean. I cleaned one room each day and kept the house picked up. I was caught up on laundry. There was rarely more than one load a day, if that. I even gave the house a good once-over before we headed to the hospital.
After Gene was born, things change.
Oh, how they changed.
Suddenly, I had this tiny little person with lots of needs. I was exhausted. I spent my days breastfeeding and rocking my baby. Who had time to clean?
Things have slowly improved. The dishes get washed. The bed {usually} gets made.
There is one thing that has yet to improve.
My dirty little secret.
The laundry.
Oh, my. It's bad. I have a mountain of dirty laundry. I've known for a while that I'm behind, but I didn't realize just how serious the situation was. We took all of the dirty laundry to the laundry room today.
It's worse than I thought. I nearly cried when I saw it all together.

I'm slowly working my way through it. My washer and dryer have been running constantly since noon-ish. It feels as though I am 437 loads away from being caught up, when in reality I estimate there are 8-12 loads of laundry standing between me and an empty hamper.
I know, it's a lot. A lot, a lot. It seems like once you fall behind it's easy to fall even further behind.
So there you have it. My dirty little secret. There is a mountain of laundry in my basement. Hopefully it's gone soon.
What's your dirty little secret?
*I worked as-needed

I thought that was your picture at first and I was about to hop on a plane and come help a sister out..lol :)
ReplyDeleteWe tend to get our laundry washed, but have a hard time putting the clean clothes away.
ReplyDeleteI share that secret....and the secret that the hallway closet is COMPLETELY crammed full of stuff to be put away.

ReplyDeleteI cleaned all of the laundry. One day I decided I was going to only keep one suitcase of my clothes and donate the rest. It forced me to clean everything (I literally packed a suitcase, ha). So, I cleaned it all...and now it's in baskets all over the house. It's putting AWAY the laundry that always gets me...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to add that I also get behind in laundry because I'm busy patting myself on the back for having the diapers done! Ha.
ReplyDeleteoh I thought it was your laundry room too, pshaw! anyway, I have no idea how I even stay afloat with 2 kids. I think it is pure will. I've taken to changing sheets twice a month, otherwise I'd only do it when my husband asked, which was NOT every 2 weeks. yikes. I water the plant on Monday, I try and do a good clean on Fridays and Mondays, since the weekend is when everyone is home for a substantial amount of time together, so a lot of things get let go. And.. I have my 3 yo slave who got diapers out of the dryer and made both our beds for me today. Sometimes, momma needs a little help!
