I'm trapped under a stack of books!
All right, not really, but sometimes it feels like it. I've been spending a lot of time reading my anatomy book and working on English essays. One of these days I'll get ahead in my English class so that I can talk about interesting things on my blog again.
Things like....
Taking my crazy dog to the groomer to get her nails trimmed.
Yesterday, the hubs and I realize the dogs need their nails trimmed, so he grabs Re-Pete. He growls a lot, but allows us to trim his nails and goes on his way. Wally hops into Mike's lap and gives us zero problems.
And then there's Penelope, the princess.
Three things happen.
1 -- Michael holds Penelope, who immediately starts trying to shake free.
2 -- I hold up the nail clippers
3 -- Penelope fuh-reaks! I mean she cried like we were cutting off her legs.
We opted that any further attempts to cut her nails would be done by a professional.
Which is where we went today.
We drove to the north part of town to a big box pet supply chain that has a team of groomers at the back of the store. We walk in and I am braced for the worst [her biting the groomer]. Since Penelope has a tendency to snag her nails, I opted to have them grind her nails rather than just cut them.
Penelope didn't want this girl picking her up. I was a little embarrassed and genuinely afraid for what was about to happen.
Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as I thought.
The 'oh-my-goodness-you're-trying-to-kill-me' cries only lasted for a few seconds. She didn't take her eyes off of me the entire time she was getting her nails done. I guess she wanted to make sure I wasn't running away and leaving her there to be further tortured. She was even nice enough to give the groomer a kiss on the chin when her nails were finished.
I really wanted to have them painted, but I figured for the first trip, having them shortened was enough. Next time, though...
Anyway, so since we were at a big box pet supply chain, I decided to buy Penelope something nice for being such a good little girl. She ended up with a Busy Bone. They come in packs of four, so the boys got one, too. They were quiet and well-behaved for a good 30-45 minutes. Peace and quiet!
What an interesting post... i find your posing very interesting and educative... please i need you to help me loose weight, by giving me a good workout plan and also advice on how to eat healthy. Thanks and i would appreciate

Penelope sounds very similar to Luna. I also took them to get their nails done this weekend, since when I tried to trim them myself she was also screaming bloody murder (as she did with the groomer). I am going to try to grind them at home, but she is terrified of that thing...
ReplyDeleteAfter Big Man cutting Mia's too short and making her bleed...she and we will never go near them again..the groomer can deal with that
ReplyDeleteDang! Our "busy" bones last 10 minutes- TOPS, if that. I need bigger ones. William won't let us trim his nails either- he acts like we are killing him, but if we take him somewhere, he is an angel. Little stinker. I didn't know they could grind them instead of clip- I will have to ask about that next time he needs that done.
