My Birthday

I'm finally posting the photos from my birthday last week. We sort of began celebrating on Wednesday, the day before my birthday. We had watched a show on bbq a few days earlier and were craving some. Unfortunately, we aren't anywhere near Kansas City (or Buckingham's, our favorite place to eat), so we had to make do with the inferior smoked meats of central Illinois.

Afterward, we headed across the street to Wal-Mart. I don't remember exactly why we went, but Michael ended up buying me birthday cupcakes. While I was a couple of aisles over, he also secretly picked out a card for me.

When we arrived home, Michael decided that it wasn't a birthday "cake" unless there were candles involved. I thought he would come around the corner holding a cupcake with a single candle sticking out. Boy, was I wrong! When I looked, my poor cupcake appeared to be in flames from the twenty-three candles he had shoved in it.

He then made me pose for a photo while candle wax dripped all over my cupcake and Fiesta plate.

We spent the weekend following my birthday in Missouri with our family. For as long as I can remember, my grandpa and I have had dinner together sometime around our birthdays, which are two days apart. Even though Michael and I are living far from home, it was important to me that I spend my birthday with my grandpa.

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. It has been a crazy week at work, so when I come home, I just want to sit around and do nothing!
